Newtype USA sent us this press release yesterday. Due to being snowed under with e-mails and having to update Frightmoore University, I haven't been able to post it until today! Sorry! ^_^;;

In a nutshell the popular anime and manga magazine Newtype USA have got their readers to vote for the top anime of all time. This was an open ballot, and over 11,700 votes were counted!

Neon Genesis Evangelion was voted number 1, while Cowboy Bebop took 2nd place, InuYasha took 3rd and Kenshin took 4th place (oro). Trigun came in 5th, the Otaku News Crew believe that this is because of the large number of Vash The Stampede Cosplayers! ^_-

Newtype USA announces the top 25 anime of all time!
Neon Genesis Evangelion takes top spot
Special second-anniversary issue!

HOUSTON, October 25, 2004—The readers voted, and Newtype USA counted! To celebrate its second year of publication, Newtype USA ran a three-month open ballot on readers' top anime of all time. After hand-counting more than 11,700 votes, the results are in!

Taking the top spot: Neon Genesis Evangelion, the seminal giant robot show that revolutionized the genre and helped push anime into the mainstream. Coming in at No. 2: Cowboy Bebop, a perennial favorite that combines Western themes with sci-fi motifs and jazzy music. And the third favorite anime of all time: InuYasha, the long-running adventure starring a modern schoolgirl and a feudal half-demon dog boy. Rounding out the top five are Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun.
