Cyber City Oedo 808 UK Blu-ray Release Announcement

UK based anime distributor Anime Limited have just teased on Twitter that they will be releasing Cyber City Oedo 808 on remastered Blu-ray sometime in 2019. The anime series from renowned studio Madhouse was shown in the mid 90's on Channel 4 in the UK on a very late slot but for many it the screening that lead them discovering anime. It was directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri (Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the Program segment in The Animatrix to name a few).

The high quality dub is noted for it's deviation from the original script with extra expletives added for effect. The UK dub also has different sound track by session musician Rory McFarlane with excellent guitar riffs, added electronica and overall cyberpunk feel. In the twitter thread anime limited confirm that both the dub and sound track will be included in the blu-ray release.

Many readers of a certain age will already be screaming "shut up and take my money". Others should just give their money to Anime Limited anyway as the classic anime title has a lot of good things going for it. Exploding neck collars, cyborgs, dystopian future setting, and plenty of action with some police investigation thrown into the mix.
