Fans of Japanese culture will want to head over to Brighton from Friday 22nd June until Sunday 1st July 2012 for the return of the Brighton Japan Festival.

There will be plenty to see and do, including not one, but two matsuri festivals, a film festival, Japanese music and performances, traditional children's games, cosplay and so much more.

Brighton Japan Festival 2012

Brighton Japan Festival returns for 2012!
June 22nd – July 1st, various venues, Brighton

Now in its fourth year, Brighton Japan is returning for 2012! Brighton Japan is the UK's largest annual celebration of Japanese culture, with events taking place in Brighton's most prestigious venues over eight days at the end of June.

The festival will host many exciting events throughout the week, including two riotous matsuri (street festivals), quality evening performances at the Festival Hub, a film festival at the Duke of York's Picturehouse and international performances at the Brighton Dome.

Festival highlights include:
MOSHI MATSURI | 23rd-24th June Free entry
Launching the Festival, the opening weekend will be a lively collection of Japanese music and performances, traditional children's games, workshops and street processions, as well as a profusion of shitamachi-style stalls selling all sorts of street food and Japanese goods.

HÔMU | 22nd June - 1st July Ticketed – see website for events / prices
Located in the dome tent adjacent to Moshi Moshi, the Hub will be home to exquisite and exciting evening events throughout the week - including film screenings, live bands and lots more!

ASAHI ANIME FESTIVAL | 30th - 1st July Free entry
The UK's only festival to combine sun, sea and anime, the Asahi Anmime Festival is a delirious and colourful celebration of Japanese pop culture with cosplay contests, manga drawing and karaoke competitions galore.

Brighton Japan is proud to be working with premier Brighton venues including The Brighton Dome & Pavilion, Duke of York's Picturehouse, Moshi Moshi, and Hotel du Vin.
