Otaku Could Revive Japanese Economy

According to Mainichi Daily News, Densha Otoko (Train Man as reported previously on Otaku News), has sparked an interest in otaku in Japan and also increased sales of items related to the story. The article mainly focuses on how much the otaku market is worth and mentions "moe sangyo" - products people don't need to have (hobby merchandise), which is worth an estimated 88 billion yen!

Apparently one private think tank believe that Japan's otaku population is about 2.8 mullion. If half of them feel in love the effect on the Japanese economy would be great, dating could make 330 billion yen!
