FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ADV ANNOUNCES MAY 10 RELEASES
HOUSTON, April 12 -ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, is pleased to announce three exciting new titles set to hit the streets on May 10: the second volume of Cromartie High School, volume five of Chrono Crusade, and the second season box set of Mutant X.
CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL: HEY DUDE
Japan’s #1 Comedy Is Taking America By Storm!
The hip new comedy series continues with its second installment, Cromartie High School: Hey Dude, which hits store shelves May 10. Described as "hilarious" (Anime Insider), "a winner" (J! Entertainment), and "the sh*t" (Evan Dorkin, Dork), Cromartie High School is a smart, funny, slow-burn comedy that’s totally absurd. It’s also an early pick as "Best New Release of 2005" (Japan Hero.com).
Based on the award-winning manga series by Eiji Nonaka (published in the US by ADV Manga), Cromartie High School was produced by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell) in partnership with TV Tokyo (Final Fantasy: Unlimited). The top rated comedy series inspired a merchandizing craze in Japan, and American anime fans have waited for years to jump on board the Cromartie bandwagon.
But Cromartie High School is so unlike any other anime comedy that its appeal goes beyond the otaku set. It combines an absurd point of view with offbeat timing and self-referential riffs reminiscent of smart sketch comedies like Mr. Show, Kids In the Hall, or Sealab 2020. "Cromartie has more in common with Late Night with Conan O'Brien than it does with other anime and manga comedy series, and that's precisely what makes it so special (not to mention hilarious)" (Anime Insider).
Synopsis: What are the dumbass delinquents of Cromartie to do? Their robot classmate Mechazawa is feeling blue. Seems his little brother keeps getting stepped on, which isn’t surprising since he’s the size of a tea canister. Hayashida’s baseball team might lift his spirits-if they can ever find their way out of the woods and onto an actual field. Add a rival gang with handpuppet leaders and a crowd-phobic hijacker on their class field trip, and you have the sophomore volume of Cromartie High School!
Cromartie High School: Hey Dude (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 9-14, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include cultural notes and comments and the original Japanese TV warning, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

CHRONO CRUSADE: BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA
She’s In the Habit of Smiting Demons!
One of the most popular anime series of 2005 spreads more gospel on May 10, when Chrono Crusade: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea hits store shelves. Devil is the fifth volume in the Chrono Crusade series, the heartwarming saga of a gun-toting nun and her demon sidekick. ADV Films has already shipped more than 100,000 DVDs in this ongoing series, thanks to Chrono’s high energy mix of action and comedy.
Chrono Crusade is based on the original manga series by Daisuke Moriyama, a best-seller published here in the States by ADV Manga. Directed by Ichiro Itano (Gantz) and produced by the notorious GONZO Digimation (Full Metal Panic!), Chrono Crusade takes holy orders to new heights of hilarity in this fantasy adventure.
Our heroes are elite exorcists with the Order of the Magdalene, and they’re sworn to stop a steady onslaught of demons crossing over to the human world. But Sister Rosette is a klutz, and her partner, Chrono, is a demon himself...
Synopsis: As Rosette and her companions get closer to locating Joshua, Aion and his demon cohorts launch a new offensive, forcing the Magdalene Order and their allies to fight a battle on multiple fronts, attacked from every angle. But something’s wrong with Rosette herself, and the life bond she shares with Chrono may be threatened. Will Rosette survive to dance with the devil, or will she succumb to the temptations of the flesh? Long smoldering desires erupt into an inferno in the fifth stunning volume of Chrono Crusade!
Chrono Crusade: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 16 – 18, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles.
