This will be followed by a wild party into the early hours, featuring live performances from virtuoso J-Rock duo Levelload and lavoursome hip-hop DJs Haruka and Butcherd Beats. Throw in a mind-blowing VJ mix by The Photon Shepherds, playable demo pods of the exciting Afro Samurai videogame from Atari, specially commissioned aerosol art by End Of The Line and much more and an unforgettable night is in the making.

THE PREMIERE
Afro Samurai: Resurrection is the feature-length sequel to the hit animated series, which uniquely blends ancient Eastern legends with futuristic tech and blaxploitation styling to create one of the coolest, most original and bloodiest animated ilms ever made. Set several years after the events in the irst Afro Samurai, Resurrection sees the bad-ass assassin with the insane hair-do forced out of retirement to face a deadly female samurai. Bloody retribution by the sword is unavoidable. With a heavyweight Hollywood voice cast, including Samuel L Jackson, Lucy Liu and Mark Hamill, an incredible soundtrack by legendary hip-hop producer The RZA (of the Wu-Tang Clan) and distinctive animation, the Afro Samurai series has an edginess and cult popularity that other animations can only dream about.

THE EVENT
The premiere is just one part of a fantastic evening lined up by the East End Film Festival to celebrate Japanese animation, known as anime. Afro Samurai: Resurrection will be joined by a screening of the nerve-wrenching Blood: The Last Vampire, the anime inspiration behind the big screen Hollywood blockbuster of the same name due for release this summer. This will be followed by a night of music and mayhem with a line-up that includes Levelload performing live, hip-hop cuts by Butcherd Beats and DJ Haruka on the decks, a stunning VJ set by The Photon Shepherds, aerosol art by End Of The Line, demo pods of Atari’s Afro game and more. And don’t forget to collect a goodie bag (worth £25!) on the way out!
