Fans of Japanese plumbing in Tokyo, will want to go to Toire Hakubutsukan Exhibition as reported by The Japan Times. Highlights include the toilets used by sumo wrestlers, which apparently 5 cm wider and 7 cm longer than the regular Japanese toilet bowl.

Other famous toilets include the "throne" of feudal lord Takeda Shingen. The article claims the a quarter-size model of the field toilet was used by as he "mulled strategies during the Warring States Period (1467-1568)".

Admission is free, Tokyo show ends Jan. 27, moves to Kasugai, Aichi Prefecture Feb. 5-9. 2009 Toto Tachikawa Showroom is near Izumi Taiikukan Station on the Tama Toshi Monorail Line. Call 042-537-1010 for further details.
