The good folks from Anime Limited have sent us details of the weekend box office for One Piece Film: Red. The movie has earned over £500,000 in its opening weekend, becoming the biggest One Piece film in the UK and Ireland. It's always nice to see numbers like this for anime film.
In promoting the film in the UK, travellers passing through Kings Cross Station could also see the iconic straw hat on display promoting the film.
One Piece Film: Red is in cinemas now, showing in both Japanese with English subtitles, as well as an English language dub. To book tickets, please visit onepiece.red.

Glasgow, UK, 07 November 2022 - Anime Limited and Toei Animation are thrilled to announce that One Piece Film: Red has earned over £500,000 in its opening weekend, becoming the biggest One Piece film in the UK and Ireland. A musical action-adventure based on the world famous manga series by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece Film: Red opened in over 270 screens, including IMAX, Dolby Cinemas, and 4DX, and is in cinemas now.
This incredible milestone comes after a concentrated marketing campaign that saw a large replica of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy's trademark hat displayed outside London King's Cross Station from 4-6 November, the weekend of release. Excited fans, cosplayers, and critics came out in force to celebrate the film at the Leicester Square premiere event, where director Gorō Taniguchi, Chief Animation Director Masayuki Sato, and Producer Hiraoki Shibata introduced the film, and signed autographs for lucky fans.

This strong debut continues to assert One Piece Film: Red's status as a global phenomenon, following its record-breaking success in Japan, where it held #1 at the Weekend Box Office for over 11 weeks to become the country's Highest Grossing Film of the Year. The film's main theme song, "New Genesis" by Ado, also made history by becoming the first Japanese song to top Apple Music's Global Top 100 charts.

Synopsis:
