Elfen Lied Thrills, Mortifies May 17

Date: Monday April 18th 2005 [18:24] | Posted By: Joe

The gentle softly spoken people over at ADV Films have sent us the details of their latest DVD release - Elfen Lied, a violent, gruesome anime, with a surprisingly cute main cast. Appropriately they're marketing it as "an orgy of violence wrapped in pink satin". This anime won't be to everyone's taste, and is sure to be used as ammunition for those complaining that anime is all violent. Combined with Gantz, it seems that ADV has recently had a more darker streak than usual.

ELFEN LIED THRILLS, MORTIFIES MAY 17

Mind Bending Anime Drenched In Blood

Elfen Lied - Lucy

HOUSTON, April 18, 2005-ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, has done it again! Prepare for an orgy of violence wrapped in pink satin when the sci-fi spectacle Elfen Lied: Vector One hits stores May 17. Anime will never be the same!

Critics have described Elfen Lied as "weird," (Anime Planet), "surprisingly sadistic," (Gamerz Edge), and "addictive" (Animesou). No wonder, when you consider what makes this series hum! Lucy, a beautiful young mutant, is bred by the government to be the ultimate weapon. Armed with unfathomable powers, she escapes her handlers, but loses her memory in the process. Fortunately, our young waif is taken in by two well-meaning students. Now, with government killers on her trail, the disposition of a five year old, and a hair trigger for ultra-violence, Lucy and her young friends must unravel the dark secret of her legacy before it’s too late.

Elfen Lied showcases the beautiful character designs and mind-bending animation fans have come to expect from ADV Films. It’s the story line, however, featuring the dichotomy of a sweet young girl and blood-soaked violence, which has caught fans’ attention. Provocative yet tantalizing, Elfen Lied is thoroughly unsettling. "After watching only a few episodes, I felt kind of dirty, but in a good way." (Gamerz Edge).

Elfen Lied: Vector One (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including the series’ first four episodes, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 5.1 with English subtitles. Extras include video segments with production art and character work from the show, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

Collectors Edition Available!

Elfen Lied: Vector One! is being offered with a special Collectors Edition box. This special collectors edition contains the first volume of Elfen Lied, plus a stunning custom series art box with full color artwork sized to hold the entire four volume series (SRP $39.98).
