Press Release as follows:

'GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES'
2 DISC EDITION
OUT TO OWN ON DVD FROM AUGUST 23RD

"Grave of the Fireflies belongs on any list of the greatest war films ever made"
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun

"Grave of the Fireflies is the Schindler's List of anime... It is the most profoundly human animated film I've ever seen."
Ernest Rister

On August 23rd Optimum Home Entertainment will be releasing Studio Ghibli's 1988 classic Grave of the Fireflies. This restored version will be available to own as a double disc DVD packed full of extras for the first time in the UK.

This moving animated film is set in Japan during World War II and follows Seita and his little sister Setsuko as they struggle to survive after their mother is killed in an air raid. With their father away serving in the Japanese navy, the two children have only each other to depend on as they try desperately to find food, shelter and the will to live at a time when even their own relatives are too selfish to help them. Directed by Isao Takahata and made by the studio that created Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film that meditates on the devastating consequences of war.
