FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AREA 88 COMPLETE COLLECTION RELEASED!

4-DISC AERIAL ACTIONER FINALLY COLLECTED TOGETHER, OUT 26TH JANUARY 2009

LONDON, UK, 17th DECEMBER 2008

LDMS, in partnership with ADV Films, is pleased to announce the Area 88: Complete Collection, anime’s answer to Top Gun, which will hit store shelves 26th January 2009.

Part of the 2006 NFT Anime Season, and a big hit with those who experienced the full digital widescreen crispness of the show in a cinema, Area 88 is based on the classic manga by Kaoru Shintani with a screenplay by Hiroshi Onogi (RahXephon, Macross Zero). It tells the story of Shin Kazama, an ace pilot on the verge of a comfortable life with a commercial airline. Tricked into joining a motley crew of mercenary fighter pilots, Shin’s only way out is to complete the three-year term or pay $1.5 million to break the contract.

What the Press Said:
"The animated version of Top Gun"
Anime News Network

"Superb animation and some truly spectacular aerial sequences." Film Threat

"An enjoyable ride with some great action."
AnimeonDVD.com

"Highly recommended. 4/5"
Eyeonanime.co.uk

"A modern update replete with all the thrills and spills modern animation techniques can supply."
Impact

The Story:
Welcome to Area 88, a desolate outpost in the sun-blasted desert where mercenary fighter pilots risk their lives in service to the Kingdom of Aslan. Any skilled pilot will do - no questions asked. They literally kill for cash as they fight for the government of a country torn apart by a bloody civil war. Shin Kazama, the only Japanese pilot on the base, is different from the rest. He may be the only pilot capable of earning enough money to buy out his contract... if he lives long enough. But Shin fights only to return to Japan, to a life and a love that was stolen from him in a cruel act of betrayal. Stunningly realistic animation and sound transport you into the soul of Area 88 where you can almost feel the jet wash on the desert wind. Once you're in, there's no going back. This is Area 88. In the desert the souls of men are either consumed by the fire or reborn from the ashes.

Area 88: Complete Collection (RRP £24.99) is a DVD-only release of episodes 1 to 12 presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen, with both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 audio with English subtitles, spread across four discs. LONDON, UK, 17th DECEMBER 2008

LDMS, in partnership with ADV Films, is pleased to announce the Get Backers, Season 1: Complete Collection, which will hit store shelves 26th January 2009. Ginji and Ban, two continually broke guys who seem to always be down on their luck, have made it their calling to retrieve items that have been stolen or lost.... for a price of course. Though they appear to be a normal duo, Ginji and Ban both have powers that allow them to take on impressive enemies. They'll dodge bullets, defeat supernatural enemies, even risk their own deaths; whatever it takes.

The Get Backers volumes are based on the hit manga by Rando Ayamine and Yuya Aoki as seen in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Japanese), and now available in UK stores. Studio Deen, who has brought fans popular series such as King of Bandit Jing and Cowboy Bebop, animated the high stakes action scenes.

But now is not the time to despair. There's no time for anger. There's only time to call Ban and Ginji, the Get Backers! No one will be refused - at least not until that huge bar tab they've run up gets paid off! These guys will restore order where there is only chaos and justice where crime has run free. They are the dudes who will bring that cute stuffed animal back to its rightful owner. They're the Get Backers, and they're only one phone call away and ready to take your case! With its offbeat combination of mind-controlled robots and junior high school tragicomedy, Angelic Layer was an instant success on its 2001 Japanese release. The mystical series follows the story of a young man who is unwittingly dragged into a cosmic war that has been building for centuries.

"With a great soundtrack, gorgeous animation, and an engaging story that transcends its card-game roots, it is definitely worth checking out, especially for fans of psychological drama who don't mind a little fighting-girl action and supernatural intrigue thrown in for good measure."
